Important Dates for Class Assignments, Spring 2008
(important dates for you to remember but not the full assignments for the semester)



For every discussion section meeting with your TA, you are asked to write up a short comment about the assigned readings for the week (5 or 6 sentences) and pose several questions (which might be used for class discussion). This must be turned into your TA each week. Attendance at the sections is required.

The Monday before sections, we will be emailing you the reading assignments for that Friday’s discussion. I have set up the readings until the first mid-term.

February 1 : Discussion sections set up list-serve as quickly as possible.
February 7-8 : Reading assignment for first regular section: Andrea pp. 1-18; 119-121. Text, pp. 3-41; 43-77.
February 14-15 : Sections discuss Abu-Lughod (all). Andrea pp. 5-22; 40-47; 58-68
February 21-22 : Sections read text 79-117, Andrea, pp. 86-96; 113-118; 212-46; "decline" pp. 22-39
February 28-29 : Sections read text, pp. 119-161; 213-237. Andrea, pp. 204-216; 216-224
March 5 : Bring text to lecture to look at pp. 213-237
March 6-7 : Sections read, text, 213-237; Andrea, 165-173; 233-255; 337-345
MAP QUIZ AND REVIEW FOR EXAM
March 10 : FIRST MID TERM EXAM
March 22-21: No sections
March 21-30 Easter Break!
April 3-4: Internet assignment is due in sections
April 14 : SECOND MID TERM EXAM
April 17-18 and 21: No class. Passover holiday!
April 24-25: SECOND MAP QUIZ
May 8-9: Readings and review for final exam

There is a two hour final exam for all students at a time scheduled by the registrar.
