ASSIGNMENT CALENDAR

Important Dates for Class Assignments, Spring 2009
(important dates for you to remember but not the full assignments for the semester)



For every discussion section meeting with your TA, you are asked to write up a short comment about the assigned readings for the week (5 or 6 sentences) and pose several questions (which might be used for class discussion). This must be turned into your TA each week. Attendance at the sections is required.

The Monday before sections, we will be emailing you the reading assignments for that Friday’s discussion. I have set up the readings until the first mid-term.

January 30 : Discussion sections set up list-serve as quickly as possible.
February 6 : Reading assignment for first regular section: Andrea, Prologue (primary sources), P-1-15 and pp. 59-62; 72-85 and Text, pp. 417-470.
February 13 : Sections discuss Abu-Lughod (all). Andrea pp. 70-85; 93-99 and Text, pp. 473-509
February 16 : (no class holiday)
February 20 : Sections read Andrea, pp. 44-65; 85-92 and Text, pp. 511-551
February 27 : Sections read Andrea, pp. 20-23; 37-43; l00-l06; ll0-28 and Text, pp. 659-683
March 4 : Bring text to lecture to look at Text, pp. 659-83
March 6 : Sections read Andrea, 151-55; 170-197
    FIRST MAP QUIZ AND REVIEW FOR EXAM
March 9 : FIRST MID TERM EXAM
April 1 : SECOND MID TERM EXAM
April 3 : Internet assignment is due in sections
April l0 : (no sections, Easter/Passover)
April l3 : (no class)
April 24 : SECOND MAP QUIZ
May 8 : Readings and review for final exam

There is a two hour final exam for all students at a time scheduled by the registrar.
